What is a mackerel wrapper? Tell me, explain a little and attribute your source(s). How does that information relate to your career in mass communications?
-- If it does, why does it?
-- If not, why not?
I don't care what you say, but I do care how you say it. Show me how well you can write.
Write about a page and email it to me - I'll put the address on another screen so I don't get spammed to death.
A weblog for Pete Ellertsen's mass communications students at Benedictine University Springfield.

About Me
- Pete
- Springfield (Ill.), United States
- I'm a retired English, journalism and cultural studies teacher at Springfield College in Illinois (acquired by Benedictine University and subsequently closed). I coordinate jam sessions for the "Clayville Pioneer Academy of Music" at Clayville Historic Site and the Prairieland Strings dulcimer club, and I sing in the choir and the contemporary praise team at Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield. On Hogfiddle I post links and video clips for our sessions and workshops on the mountain dulcimer (a.k.a. "hog fiddle"), as well as research notes on folklore and cultural studies, hymnody and traditional Anglo-Celtic and Scandinavian music. I also posted assignments and readings in my interdisciplinary humanities classes. The Mackerel Wrapper (now on hiatus), carried assignments and readings for my mass comm. students. I started teaching b/log when I chaired SCI-Benedictine's assessment committee, and reopened it as the privatization of public schools grew increasingly troubling and closer to home.

Mackerel is a website for posting blogs and sharing ideas with other people. The ideas are like opinions and you connect with different people on what or how you feel about a certain topic or event. I for one think that this is a great website. It helps people be more outgoing and communicative. It's a great way of expressing your opinion and feelings.
Mackerel has a wide selection of different issues and subjects. For example, I recently watched a video about a shoe-remaker/repairer who lost his business shop during the attacks of /11. He was asked to move his shop up town, but he refused. His heart was in the place where the Twin Towers use to lie. His memories were made there and will remain until the end of time. So he decided to stay and recreate his memories into a newer shop. Minas's place was reopened in 2003 and customers continued visting him.
To me, this is proof that hope is being restored in the world and in our faith. We may live in a bad economy and times may be rough, but there is still hope. It's all in God's faith. It's supposed to be right with Jesus and accept Him into your heart. No matter how downtrodden, He never gives up on His children.
